Excavator Parts - The Undercarriage

This is the lowest section of the equipment and helps it move around the worksite.

The tracks are built from reinforced plates that run over rollers and are connected with pins.

The track frame has the track bodies on the side and is connected to the house with a center pin. The excavator can swivel around thanks to the swing bearing, slew ring, and swing gear parts.

The final drives are made up of parts like a hydraulic motor and gearing system that is connected to the engine by a drive shaft. These excavator parts get power to the track and help the equipment turn.

Excavator Parts - The House

Above the undercarriage sits the house, which is where the operator controls and power source are found.

The operator cab is an enclosed cabin with the operator's seat and the controls.

The counterweight is placed at the upper housing towards the back of the excavator, which offsets the heavy weight of the excavator's fully extended digging arm. This helps keep the excavator from tipping over.

The engine gets power to the hydraulic pumps and provides the power needed to move the tracks.

The fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks are found in the rear housing, which provides easy access for quickly refueling them.

Excavator Parts - The Arm

The up and down movements are controlled by the boom, which is the upper part of the digging arm.

A hinged joint connects the stick to the end of the boom, which provides the digging movement.

The bucket is found at the bottom of the stick and is also attached by a hinge joint. It is able to pick up and drop materials.
