A History of Kubota® Tractors
Humble Beginnings
Kubota gained renown for developing and manufacturing some of the best compact and subcompact tractors available on the market; a reputation they've earned from diligent pioneering and dedication to bringing innovation to the market since 1890. Although first established as a small foundry producing castings of heavy equipment for other manufacturers, they soon realized the progress they could make in other markets, and began producing agro-industrial oil-based engines in 1922, and developed and commercialized Japan's first farm tractor, paving the way for innovations to come.
Entrance into U.S. Market
Based in Osaka, Japan, Kubota first made landfall in the United States in 1969 with the 21 horsepower L200, the success of which led to the creation of Kubota Tractor Corporation in California in 1972. As of 2017, the Kubota Tractor Corporation had just over 39,000 employees and recently opened a new factory in Gainesville, Georgia, to produce their ZD diesel zero turns and line of Kubota RTV recreational vehicles. Today, Kubota has offices and facilities all over the US, including Georgia, Texas, and Illinois, and continues to produce the subcompact tractors that made them the industry-giant they are today.
