The 3 Most Common Types of Loaders
There are three main types of loaders. They all tackle the same types of tasks, but they differ in their design and handling. Keep reading to learn more. When you're ready to shop for a loader, check out the selection at Arizona Tractor Sales.
Skid Steer Loaders
Operators control these loaders using joysticks. One joystick moves the right-side wheels while another moves the left-side wheels. When the loader turns, it has a skidding movement (which is where the name 'skid steer loader' comes from).
The main advantage of skid steer loaders is that they are incredibly agile. They can more easily handle tight turns and navigate around obstacles.
Track Loaders
The track design on these loaders helps evenly distribute the equipment's weight across a larger part of the ground. This allows the loader to more easily go across terrains, such as snow and mud, without sinking. Track loaders also cause less damage to the surface below, which can make cleanup after a project easier.
Wheel Loaders
For these loaders, articulated steering is used. A pivot point influences turning and helps lead to smoother operation. These loaders also usually sit higher off of the ground, which gives the operator better visibility. This is especially beneficial in high-traffic work sites.
